Happy Scentsational Sunday, Reader !

Can you believe it's December? YIKES! This time of year, I feel so behind. Do you, too? Maybe you're one of those very special people who are ready already for the next holiday? Either way, we're going to do great!

This time of year is also the time of year for gratitude......

It's time for a NEW kind of gratitude practice. There's something called "gratitude guilt," and it can be hard for some to overcome it. In this video, I explain what this means and discuss ways to have a useful gratitude practice that's more than just toxic positivity. It's short, sweet, and full of tips for more contentment in your life! I hope you'll give it a watch!

Aroma Face Mask Recipes for All the Skins!

Aromatherapy along with herbs and clays can do wonders for your skin! All the recipes below follow the same basic instructions. Mix, apply to a cleansed face, let sit, rinse, and apply a nice toner then a moisturizer. Easy peasy!

We all have different kinds of skin so masks need to be used according to skin type. Here's a little breakdown for you:

OILY SKIN--Rose, Black Spruce, and Clay

Take a tablespoon of bentonite clay and a tablespoon of rose hydrosol (or frankincense or lavender hydrosol) to create a paste. Use one drop of Black Spruce essential oil if desired (optional) Apply to cleansed skin and leave on for about 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

***NOTE: You'll follow the above directions for the rest of the masks too, so I'll just share ingredients for these.

DRY SKIN--Avocado, Helichrysum & Honey

Dry skin is so common this time of year, and dry skin is uncomfortable with cracking and just feeling depleted. Try this mask recipe:

Mash up 1/2 avocado and mix it up with about a tablespoon of raw honey. Optional: Add a drop of helichrysum (or lavender) essential oil. Leave this on your face for about 20 minutes before rinsing.

SENSITIVE SKIN--Oatmeal & Honey & Yogurt

Powder up oats until fine. Mix about 2 tbsp with 1 tbsp yogurt and 1 tbsp honey. Adjust with more oatmeal powder if need be. Apply and leave on for 15 minutes.

HYPERPIGMENTED SKIN--Turmeric, Frankincense, and Yogurt

Try mixing about 2 tbsp yogurt, 1/2 tsp ghee, 1 drop frankincense essential oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric together. Apply, let sit, rinse, follow with toner and moisturizer.

MATURE SKIN--Avocado, Helichrysum, Vitamin C, and Honey

Mash 1/2 avocado. Add a drop of helichrysum essential oil, 1/4 teaspoon Vitamin C powder OR mash a little rose hip fruit, and 1 tbsp honey. Spread on your face and follow with a rinse, toner, and moisturizer.

ACNE-PRONE SKIN--Rosemary, Charcoal, Honey, Bentonite Clay & Tea Tree

Mix 1 teaspoon activated charcoal powder, 1/2 tbsp bentonite clay, 1/2 to 1 tbsp rosemary hydrosol or water, 1 drop tea tree essential oil, and 1/4 tsp jojoba oil. Apply to face. Let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse. Follow with a nice rosemary toner and some light non-comedogenic moisturizer.

No matter what kind of skin you have, enjoy a little relaxation! Using natural ingredients that you know and understand along with beautiful essential oils that support skin health revives your mind AND your skin.

Enjoy!

January 12, 2024 Happy Scentsational Sunday, Reader! If you have a willow tree (Salix spp), especially if it happens to be Salix alba (white willow), then you have one of many herbalists' favorite medicinal herbs! It's nearly time for us to get ready for spring herbal harvests, and willow is one of the plants that we harvest bark from in the early spring, when you're pruning branches. It's a good idea to harvest the pruned branches and NOT directly from the tree. This provides good use for...

January 5, 2025 Happy Sunday, Reader! Do you know what sense affects over 75% of our emotions every single day? You're RIGHT! It's your sense of smell. Most of us don't realize how vital this sense is to our well-being, enjoyment and function (and even safety) in life. Science has demonstrated over and over that the fastest way to reach the emotional part of our brain (the limbic system) is through our sense of smell! Think about these scents and what they evoke for you: Coffee Fresh roses...
