June 1, 2026 I made something new for you, and I'm excited to share the first piece of it with you today. Lately, I've been reflecting a LOT on the word, "Becoming." We are all becoming, and we do this throughout our lives. We "become" in so many different ways, too! This first video is the beginning piece of what it's like to become your family's trusted herbalist. If you're here because you're serious about becoming a family herbalist, one who is competent, articulate, and confident in your herbalism skills, then this series is for you. I don't mean the kind of person who has a few herbs in the cupboard, a big folder full of saved herbal recipes off the internet, and a Pinterest board called "Natural Remedies" that gets opened in a panic at 9:30 at night when someone is becoming ill. I'm talking about the kind of person who is truly interested in learning (or wants to learn) how to think more clearly about family wellness, to ask better questions, and to make wiser choices when someone in the family or even community needs support. There's a big difference between grabbing a random, hopefully-okay remedy online and hoping it does something positive (Hope Herbalism)...and learning how to actually think like a real herbalist. An herbalist who asks the right questions so she can truly help her family membor or neighbor. That's what this first video in the series is about. It's called The Family Herbalist Filter, and inside, I'm going to walk you through a much better starting place than, "What herb is good for this?" Unfortunately, that question is where most people begin. And I understand why! It's the obvious question, and because we're all used to taking medications, it's where our understanding goes first. Someone has a cough, a headache, an upset stomach, a stressful day, a child who can't settle, a husband who says, "Do we have anything for this?" ....And suddenly you're searching, scrolling, second-guessing, and trying to decide whether the recipe you found is actually safe and effective. But if you're wanting to grow into the woman your family can trust for natural care, you need more than scattered and random recipes and hopeful guesses. You need a way to pause and think. To look at the situation in front of you with more clarity. What we need in these situations is a simple filter that helps you begin choosing herbs, essential oils, and home remedies with discernment and confidence. That's what I'm sharing in today's video. I also made you a list of the right questions to ask that you can download below the video on the page.
🌿 If you've ever felt like herbalism is fascinating but also overwhelming... 🌼 Or wondered whether you're choosing the right remedy, or, if it's one from TikTok, whether it's a "good" one or not? 🌿 If you've ever collected herbs, books, recipes, or essential oils but still felt unsure when it comes time to put them to work and to actually use them... 🌼 Or, if you've ever thought, "I want to be this kind of woman for my family, but I don't know how to get there," then please give this video a quick watch. This is where we begin! By thinking like a real family herbalist. Go watch Video #1 here:
I think this one may help you feel a whole lot more clear about what it really means to become the trusted herbalist in your home. Hugs, Health, and Herbs, Heidi P.S. Don't forget the homework download below the video! It's simple, but it's a great guide for thinking about a situation so you can make good decisions. |

June 3, 2026 Last week on one of our live chats inside the School of Botanical Arts & Sciences, a student asked this question: "How can you tell if an herb is working or not?" This question is great because it gets right to the heart of learning how to think like a family or community herbalist. Most of us come into herbalism with a "medically" conventional way of thinking about remedies. We've been trained to ask, "What do I take for this?" Then we take the prescribed or over-the-counter...
May 27, 2026 We just marched into May, and can you believe we're already about marching out? This month is special because we have two full moons, and one of these is the Blue moon, which will happen on May 31st. Blue moons are rare, and they're also farther away from earth than normal, too. How is your garden going? I have some great news about DIRT! We've had a LOT of rain here recently, for which I'm very grateful. For one thing, the weeds are easier to pull. And for another, our watering...
May 24, 2026 Memorial Day in America has become the unofficial beginning of summer. It's the end of the school year, and families are planning grand vacations...or at least things to do with the family for the summer months. There are gardens to tend, grills to light, family gatherings to enjoy, long weekends to rest into, outdoor projects to get done, and even a little extra time outside with bare feet in the grass. I love all of those things. But Memorial Day is also a day of remembering....
