The scream burst from my mouth, and then the tears came...🌿🌼🌿 Wednesday's Weekly Herbal

May 14, 2025

Happy Wednesday, Reader!

As I sit here looking out the window at our apothecary/clinic/office downtown in Orofino, I'm looking at nearly 100 tiny trees just waiting to be put into the ground. It's quite a lovely sight, and a reminder of the pleasant outdoor work to come very, very soon at our new place...

If you haven't heard, we're moving to a larger property that will hold both our home and the entire business and school, provide live in person teaching space, and more land for the herb farm. We've been searching for the perfect place for nearly three years now, and the shuffling back and forth between the herb studio and our home up on the mountain has been a challenge.

We're looking forward to this new phase in our lives.

We're packing madly now. It's something moving two houses into one. But it's a great chance to declutter, and a wonderful time to go through my herbs, essential oils, and the carrier oils too.

I have a few things to share this week, and I'll start with what's newish----

1) That Time I Threw Out My Back, and What I Did to Save the Day

The first (and only) time I ever threw out my back was traumatizing to say the least. I'm SO fortunate I have knowledge of medicinal herbs and aromatherapy because that's how I got better in about a day. This is unheard of for most people who turn to the typical NSAIDs.

I wrote about this in an email about a year and a half ago, but I never put it on the website. Now the formulations are there for you.

Here's what I did, and I hope it gives you some ideas!

2) Since we're talking about back pains.....

Here's a formulation I created for a client last year. It's an herbal salve that contains herbs and essential oils specifically for helping to heal bone tissue and also help with pain relief. Enjoy!

Inspiration and Encouragement

I haven't written this section of the newsletter for a little time now, although I allude to all I believe and feel all the time....

I got this idea for a new part of the business, and I want to call it, Keep Your Lamp Lit. I have a lot of crazy ideas, and Joe usually gets me to tow the line and stay focused, but even he was interested in my pursuing this....

I'd love to know your thoughts, too!

It all happened when I was listening to a homestead lady on YouTube sharing about preparedness. Again. Along with the usual fear-mongering and fake urgency. (I do not like fear-mongering and screaming ladies--it sets me on edge.)

And then I came across a man discussing the importance of being prepared in your faith because we just don't know the time when our lives will change.

Then I remembered the stories from Luke and Matthew where we are told to be ready. To be prepared.

In Matthew 25, there were ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the groom. Five of them were foolish, and five were smart. The foolish ones didn't take extra oil! And of course, the careful and prudent ones did make sure to bring extra oil...just in case.

Of course the groom was delayed, so the virgins fell asleep, all being tired. At midnight, a shout came! It was the bridegroom coming!

The careful ones were able to revive their lamps with the extra oil they had brought (just in case), and they had their bright lights shining for him in welcome, while the unfortunate ones who were unprepared did not have a chance to keep their lights shining. They ran to a merchant to see if they could get some oil, but alas, they missed out on the coming of the groom. The groom is a symbolic representation for Jesus in the story, and the virgins are the rest of us....

Can you imagine how awful this would feel?

"Be on the alert, then, because you do not know the day nor the hour."--Matthew 25:13

And isn't life like this too?

Not only do we need to spiritually be ready for the coming of our Lord and Savior, but we really would do well to do our best to be ready for emergencies here on this planet. To be able to be helpful for our communities. To be good neighbors and be able to help out because perhaps we have a little extra, or we have a skillset that can be useful (like herbalism 🥰).

I'm thinking about sharing once again more about traditional skills in the areas of medicine and food and the home/garden along with some uplifting (no fear-mongering) faith talk. I'm not sure where I'll do this, or how.... I'm open to ideas!

What do you think?

Thank you so much for being here, in our world! If you're a student, an extra special thank you. I love you, and I hope you'll take some time to begin learning how to use medicinal herbs and essential oils for your health, mindset, and a clean and nontoxic life.

Hugs, Health, and Herbs,

Heidi

P.S. Don't forget! Get your seat for Jennifer's Three Day Reset next week! It's going to be GREAT!

May 7, 2025 Happy Wednesday, Reader! "Are you a prepper?" the man asked me. I looked at him quizzically, and he burst out laughing. "You don't know what a prepper IS, do you?" I shook my head, "No," and asked him, "What's a prepper?" He didn't really answer because our real estate agent drove up just then. He and I had been waiting outside the tiny off-grid cabin Joe and I were getting ready to purchase, enjoying the beauty of the mountain property. This was back in about 2013, and we were...
