Answer: We officially begin on Saturday, July 19th. You have lifetime access to all course materials (there's no rush if you want to take your time), and you can join any and all future open groups too. In other words, you do not have to keep up.

5) Question: Can I get help with my medical problems in Ditch the Drugstore?

Answer: Herbalists are not legally allowed to provide medical advice, and we stay well within the law here at SOBAS. But we can help you research potential starting places, get to know your body better, and share formulations that may help support body systems and organs.

Ditch the Drugstore is a "Family and Community Herbalist" program focusing on common ailments and being able to replace pretty much any drug you'd find in a drugstore.

It's for students to be able to substitute over-the-counter medications with healthier, natural plant medicines. It's NOT meant for complex medical issues that require a doctor's support.

With that said, I've had many students start with Ditch the Drugstore, and as they progress, they learn enough to start working with their own body's health needs. Many of my students have, like me, been able to stop taking prescription medications under doctors' supervision. (See the note I sent you on Tuesday with an incredible case study.)

6) Question: How much time will this take?

Answer: This will vary depending on your circumstances.

I know we're all busy, and luckily, herbalism can be learned in the margins of your life. I've designed this course to take about two to three hours a week for the intensive six-to-eight weeks. Some people might take more time, and some much less because we all have different types and sizes of families and, therefore, other needs.

However much time you can devote is just fine...

You're welcome to do what you can in your time and spread the making of your home apothecary over as long a period as you want and need. And remember, you can go through any future rounds (with the live sessions) of the course with me again, too, at no extra cost.

I make this entirely doable for you! Your success means everything to me.

7) Question: Will I have to buy a lot of herbs or essential oils?

Answer: You'll need to purchase some herbs and essential oils, and what you need will vary depending on your unique family and the needs of family members.

Many of my students want to obtain their herbs by growing, foraging, or finding them in convenient places like the grocery store, thus saving a lot of money.

But this isn't possible for all of us.

I share my sources for purchasing quality herbs and essential oils and help you find what you need.

Many students begin by purchasing all their herbs and oils. Some choose to start with a small amount and grow their supply as much as possible. Some choose to work out of their gardens. It all depends, and herbalism works for everyone.

I bought too many herbs and essential oils when I first started learning herbalism. I was overwhelmed with all the choices, had nobody to ask my many questions, and thus couldn't make wise purchases.

I didn't have a mentor to help me.

My goal in Ditch the Drugstore is for you to use the Family Pharmacy Workbook I've created to plan out and prioritize your family's home apothecary needs so you can minimize the herbs and oils you need to purchase and enjoy mentorship in the community.

I've also tried to use broad-use herbs and oils as much as possible in my formulations for this course to help offset the cost.

**The bottom line is that your family differs from other students' families. Some people only make remedies for a couple of people. Others have seven or eight children plus elderly parents. You can see that their needs and the herbs and oils they require will radically differ.

If you're concerned about this, know that you can start your apothecary with your primary needs in mind. You can start small if you need to and then build over time.

8) Question: Do I have to join the student group? I don't like social media.....

Answer: No, you don't need the student community to complete the course. However, our student community is OFF social media on our own private platform, and I promise it's a wonderful place to hang out.
